\"\"<\/a>I recently discovered that you can add gadgets to your gmail account. Gadgets are added by url, and allow you to greatly customize gmail.<\/p>\n

To add a gmail gadget, you first need to install the “Add any Gadget by URL” feature in google labs.<\/p>\n

  1. Enter Gmail<\/li>\n
  2. In the top right, click the Settings wheel<\/li>\n
  3. Click “Labs”<\/li>\n
  4. Search for “Add any gadget by url”<\/li>\n
  5. Enable the lab<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Now to add gadgets, you first need to find the url of the gadget that you wish to include in gmail.  Some gadgets that I have, and find useful are listed below:<\/p>\n

    1. Wikipedia gadget (http:\/\/www.google.com\/ig\/modules\/wikipedia.xml)<\/li>\n
    2. Calculator (http:\/\/www.poturi.net\/gadgets\/calc\/calc.xml)<\/li>\n
    3. URL shortener (http:\/\/hosting.gmodules.com\/ig\/gadgets\/file\/107368512201818821991\/bitly-shortener.xml)<\/li>\n
    4. Google map shortener (http:\/\/www.google.com\/ig\/modules\/mapsearch.xml)<\/li>\n
    5. Chuck Norris Fact Generator (http:\/\/marsupialmusic.net\/stu\/scripts\/chucknorris.xml)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      To add these gadgets, navigate to the settings page in gmail.  Next to the Labs tab, there should now be a “Gadgets” tab.  Just click this tab and then paste the url for the desired gadget.<\/p>\n
