{"id":266,"date":"2011-08-31T09:05:11","date_gmt":"2011-08-31T15:05:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mattdturner.com\/wordpress\/?p=266"},"modified":"2019-05-17T12:16:17","modified_gmt":"2019-05-17T18:16:17","slug":"fine-tipped-ipad-stylus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mattdturner.com\/wordpress\/2011\/08\/fine-tipped-ipad-stylus\/","title":{"rendered":"Fine-Tipped iPad Stylus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Edit: <\/strong>There have been developments on a new active stylus design which gives you a fine-tipped stylus with built in palm rejection. &nbsp;Its called the <a href=\"http:\/\/mattdturner.com\/wordpress\/2012\/02\/cregle-ipen-an-active-stylus-for-ipad\/\">Cregle iPen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For those of you who have ready my previous post about the <a href=\"http:\/\/mattdturner.com\/wordpress\/2011\/04\/stylus-r-us-beststylus-review\/\">BestStylus<\/a>, you know that I have done a lot of research on different styli for the iPad 2. &nbsp;I ended up just buying the Targus stylus from Best Buy. &nbsp;While it is a rather good stylus, it isn&#8217;t necessarily the best for note taking. &nbsp;The problem I have with the stylus is the very wide, rounded tip. &nbsp;Also, the tip is not firm; when writing, the tip flattens out because of the pressure applied.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-267\" style=\"border-style: initial; border-color: initial;\" title=\"jot_clear_disk\" src=\"http:\/\/mattdturner.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/jot_clear_disk.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"364\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"http:\/\/mattdturner.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/jot_clear_disk.png 455w, http:\/\/mattdturner.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/jot_clear_disk-300x148.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 364px) 100vw, 364px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There is a new stylus, however that looks very promising.&nbsp;<span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"color: #000000; -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none;\">&nbsp;The <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/adonit.net\/product\/jot\/\" class=\"broken_link\">Jot Pro by Adonit<\/a>&nbsp;allows you to&nbsp;write with a small ball point that is surrounded by a clear round disk. &nbsp;If I understand correctly,&nbsp;the clear disk provides the iPad (or any capacitative screen) with the wide impact area while the ballpoint is placed at the very center. &nbsp;This provides the user with pinpoint accuracy.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the increased accuracy of this stylus over other styli currently on the market, there are many other features that make the Jot Pro look like a very well designed stylus.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It comes with a protective cap to prevent the user from losing\/breaking the disk.<\/li>\n<li>The disk is very durable and requires some effort to remove. &nbsp;This prevents you from breaking or losing the disk.<\/li>\n<li>The pen is made of a durable, heavy metal.<\/li>\n<li>The stylus includes a rubber grip for comfort while writing.<\/li>\n<li>The Jot Pro includes a magnet, which allows you to attach the stylus to your iPad 2&#8217;s built in magnet for the smart cover.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>For more information and videos of the stylus in use see the <a href=\"http:\/\/adonit.net\/product\/jot\/\" class=\"broken_link\">Adonit Website<\/a>&nbsp;and\/or the posts on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/531383637\/jot-capacitive-touch-stylus?ref=live\" class=\"broken_link\">Kickstarter<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div>Overall this stylus looks like a new groundbreaking piece of technology for note taking and drawing on capacitative touch screens. &nbsp;My only concern is the possibility of the disk scratching the screen. &nbsp;However, there haven&#8217;t been any reports of that being an issue. &nbsp;I do not yet have one, however I will write an updated post when I get to test it out.<\/div>\n<h6 class=\"zemanta-related-title\" style=\"font-size: 1em;\">Related articles<\/h6>\n<ul class=\"zemanta-article-ul\">\n<li class=\"zemanta-article-ul-li\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tuaw.com\/2011\/08\/12\/adonits-jot-is-a-stylish-precise-stylus-for-the-ipad\/\">Adonit&#8217;s Jot is a stylish, precise stylus for the iPad<\/a> (tuaw.com)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"zemanta-pixie\" style=\"margin-top: 10px; height: 15px;\"><a class=\"zemanta-pixie-a\" title=\"Enhanced by Zemanta\" href=\"http:\/\/www.zemanta.com\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"zemanta-pixie-img\" style=\"border: none; float: right;\" src=\"http:\/\/img.zemanta.com\/zemified_e.png?x-id=ec77a4b1-8330-4315-94bf-d02a0b48e949\" alt=\"Enhanced by Zemanta\"><\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Edit: There have been developments on a new active stylus design which gives you a fine-tipped stylus with built in palm rejection. &nbsp;Its called the Cregle iPen.
